Rowan is a graduate of the University of California Extension Program in Film and Television.

He moved to Los Angeles in 1998 where he completed the two year course in one year.

Upon completion of the course he worked at DreamWorks SKG in Feature Development. After his tenure at DreamWorks, Rowan moved over to John Wells Productions where he was involved in the development and production of E.R., The West Wing and Third Watch for Warner Bros Television. When the season finished he moved on to work with Douglas Aarniokoski who was completing directorial duties on the feature film Highlander: Endgame.

After post-production wrapped on Highlander Rowan worked for Keri Putnam, the Senior Vice President of HBO Films where he assisted in the Development of such films as 61* (Billy Crystal, Director), Dinner with Friends (Norman Jewison, Director) as well as The Laramie Project, Disappearing Acts and The Life and Death of Peter Sellers.

Rowan moved back to Australia at the end of 2001 and in 2002 started his own production company through which he has a number of projects in development. He also works with writers in Australia and the USA in developing their projects.
